AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF CONDUCTED BY MR. OMOKOKU ENIOLA OLUMIDE ONDO DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE (ODC)

Q: Can we meet you Sir?
I am Rev. Isaac Damilola Akinwale, the Executive Secretary of Ondo Development Committee (ODC). I give all glory to God for yet another opportunity to serve in this capacity. I am a God fearing person and my watchword is “Godliness with contentment is a great gain”. I am always positive and see everything possible by the power
of Almighty God.
Q: When did you assume this office?
I worked in government circle for 35 years, precisely Ondo State Radiovision Corporation. I retired as a Director in the year 2013, 22nd May. To the glory of God, I started working as Executive Secretary of Ondo development committee after I had been interviewed; I assumed office on the 6th January 2014. I immediately swung into action of fulfilling the mandate before me.
Q: Can you unveil what ODC is all about?
ODC is a body set up by the Osemawe in council in the year 1988. The aims and objectives of setting
up ODC is to serve as pillars of development for the people of Ondo, and to also bridge the gap between Ondo indigenes in diaspora and the city at large fostering unity, harmony and development for the land.
It was quite thoughtful of the members of Osemawe in council under the leadership of Late
Oba Adekolurejo Jisomasu III to have given it a thought that a body which will be saddled with the
responsibility of development in Ondo Kingdom be set up.
ODC happens to be the only vibrant nongovernmental body set up by the community to
strive for the development of the people and Ondoland educationally, economically, politically
to mention few. Anything that can facilitate development for Ondo Kingdom is what ODC
stands for.
Q: What are the contributions of ODC in Ondo
city for recent years?
The contributions of the ODC in recent years have been enormous. Right from its establishment,
development has been on course. In those days, before the emergence of ODC, hardly would you see an Ondo
indigene occupy sensitive positions within the nation (i.e education, politics, business, government, etc).
Today, reverse is the case; At Federal and State levels, offices are being occupied by sons and daughters of Ondo Kingdom, through this formidable body ODC. The ODC serves as a catalyst that propels our people to go into various
capacities to become leaders in fore mentioned areas.
ODC encouraged Ondo indigenes to participate in the politics and governing of Nigeria and beyond with ample support, creating boldness for them to take their rightful position in all ramifications. Read More…

FROM THE DESK OF THE INITIATOR

Glory be to God Almighty who has no beginning and no end, the I AM THAT I AM, the Alpha and Omega
who is, and who was and who is to come the Almighty, the Awesome and True God who has given us life

To serve Him and our neighbours as well. We praise Him and thank Him for His blessings on the project
and the growth of the Ondo youths in every facet of their lives.

It is noteworthy that the Ondo youths have taken up the responsibilities of running OYDI themselves.
The responsibilities span from planning, programs, operations, commercialization and dreams realization.
The past two years have been very challenging as a result of the economic downturn, heavy rains/flooding;
which affected fishery development and ponds allocation as well as agricultural programs.
Our youths at OYDI confronted their challenges and with the help of God overcame them.
However, the ponds at Fagun will need reformation. The stream that runs through Fagun needs its flooding problem addressed.
The solution is to remove the constraint (a small culvert) which restrains free flow of water and causes
flooding when blocked.

It is heartwarming to realize that we can truly breed leaders of tomorrow by giving them hands on
situations.
Let them take decisions, let them make mistakes and let them learn from the mistakes.
They should be able to manage their own public, appreciate, train and help each other.
OYDI to the glory of God is breeding youths with integrity, foresight and management skills in practical terms. It is amusing to listen to them selling ideas to each other and reaching agreements on the way forward.
I used to think for them but they now take control of the management and running of the organization.

I thank God for those he has sent into OYDI, I thank my royal father; The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom,
Dr.Victor Adesimbo Ademefun Kiladejo Jilo III, His chiefs, the chairman of ODC Otunba Noah Fadayomi,
OYDI Board of Trustees and OYDI friends, Zenith Club of Ondo, D’core Club of Ondo and companies
who have always supported us. I pray that God will greatly bless all of them, bless this vision and make
it a source for the true empowerment and growth of our youths in Ondo kingdom.
We should be proud of all our youths; let us give them the chance to play their roles effectively in the
society with our full support. This edition is packaged by the youths themselves and contains unedited
reports of how they have been able to manage the affairs of OYDI. I am confident that with time they
will improve greatly.
God bless our King-The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, God bless Ondo Kingdom with its citizens, and
God bless you all Amen. Thank you.
